Drug Category: Gonadotrophin.

Generic Name: HMG (Human Menopausal Gonadotrophin).

Contents: Inj: Per amp: HMG 75iu; powder in amp plus solvent.

Indications: Anovulatory infertility associated with elevated LH/FSH ratios e.g. polycystic ovarian disease.

Dosage: Adults: Initially 150iu daily or 375 iu on alternate days by i.m. inj until desired response, as indicated by oestrogen levels or ultrasonography, is achieved. Children: Not applicable.

Precautions: Monitor for signs of hyper stimulation.

Adverse effects: Ovarian hyper stimulation, en­largement and rupture. Multiple pregnancy.
